Women's Upland Bird Hunt          March 2, 2024

Saturday, March 2nd, 2024, was a fantastic day in the field for 33 women hunters who participated in the annual Women’s Hunt put on by the Yolo County Chapter #566 of Pheasants Forever at Raahauge’s Hunting and Sporting Clays, in Dunnigan, California. The day was threatened with winds and heavy rain but these ladies came from all over the state for the opportunity to harvest some pheasants with the assistance of some fantastic dogs and handlers. Many of these hunters were getting their first time out in the field. Although not everyone was successful in harvesting a pheasant, the experience was one to make lifetime memories and everyone said that they can’t wait to participate again. These women were treated to at barbecue tri-tip lunch and a raffle where no one left empty handed.

The event had help from Peter Maggenti and Kayla Ketchum as volunteers from the First Hunt Foundation who worked as chaperones out in the field during the hunt. We want to acknowledge all of the great volunteer dog handlers and their well-trained dogs, who made the time in the field a phenomenal lifetime experience. Yolo County chapter of Pheasants Forever would also like to thank Raahauge’s Hunt and Sporting Clays and Rambo’s Guide Service for hosting this event. Finally, most of the photos are courtesy of Rick Delgado. Rick helps at all of these hunts by being a dog handler and taking photos. Thanks, Rick!
