Pheasants Forever Yolo County sponsored the Jim Barrango Memorial Award given for the "Best Upland Bird." This memorial award honors Jim Barrango, who was from the Bay Area. Jim was a great taxidermist and a long time friend and member of the California Association of Taxidermists (CAT). Jim needed just one more blue/1st-place ribbon to get his Master's certification in the category of Birds. Jim died (1997) suddenly in his shop, after completing a huge peacock mount for our upcoming show.

The recipient of the award this year was Hayward Cloud, a long time CAT member and Master Bird taxidermist from Napa. His rooster pheasant mount was selected by the CAT board. The award was presented to Mr. Cloud, by Gary McDaniel, Vice President of the CAT.
